Ingredients for Flat Bread
4 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup instant oats /oat flour (optional)
1 tablespoon ground flax seed (optional)
1/2 level tablespoon of yeast
1 tablespoon of sweetener
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of oil
1 cup water (divided)
Ingredients for Filling
40ml Tofu Mayonnaise
80ml Carrots
80ml Spring Onions
100ml Cabbage
40ml Onions
80ml Coconut
80ml steamed, grated tomatoes (optional)
1 tablespoon of Sesame oil (optional)
Instructions
Procedure for filling
- Grate/slice your carrots, green peppers, spring onions, cabbage, onions, and coconut.
- Grate and steam just your tomatoes.
- Transfer everything to a bowl, cover, and set aside.
- Add your spread and sesame oil to the salad and mix.
Procedure for Flat Bread
- Mix your wheat, oats, flaxseed, yeast, salt, sweetener, and oil with warm water.
- Knead the dough for 5–10 minutes. If it’s getting sticky, sprinkle a little flour or oil over it.
- Cover the dough and allow it to rise for 1 hour.
- Once your dough is risen, beat the air out and knead for 2 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls.
- Roll out each ball on a flat surface already sprinkled with flour.
- Place a circular bowl on the rolled dough and cut out the edge with a knife.
- Grease your pan and place the dough in it.
- Flip to the other side every 2 minutes to allow it to cook and brown on both sides without burning.
- Replace it with a new dough once both sides are cooked and browned.
- Place all wraps on a paper towel or cloth to prevent sweating, and serve.
Notes
- To save time, prepare the filling while waiting for the dough to rise.
- Remove optional ingredients judiciously to make it pocket-friendly.
